I am Diogo Lisboa, a software engineer and avid learner of different subjects (I’ve learned the fancy word for this is philomath).
I started tinkering with computers and programming in 2004. Professionally I got my first job in 2007 and since then I’ve spent most of my professional career writing web applications and distributed systems, mostly at large scale in some big companies.
Even though I worked on a lot of backend and cloud services I don’t like to call myself an “X” programmer or box myself into one specialty. My general opinion on software engineering is that we should try understand every part of the stack in at least some detail. I enjoy learning about compilers and programming languages, networking, distributed systems, type systems, databases, but also typography, design and user experience. We shouldn’t limit ourselves to one area of programming or product design.
I’m currently enjoying a “working sabbatical” moment in my career, very much still programming and learning every day but on my own projects. However I am available for new job opportunities, so hit me up at diogo at dlisboa.com.
